Community Table: Pace-RI, Food is Medicine!

04/17/2018 | 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Healthy food plays a critical role in preventing disease and lowering health care costs. This month we will be joined by Miriam Hospital research dietician, Mary Flynn, and our friends at PACE-RI to discuss the role of a healthy diet in preventing and managing chronic diseases.

  • Mary Flynn designs protocols to show how plant-based diets that include extra virgin olive oil will improve risk factors for chronic diseases, are easy to prepare, and are economical.
  • PACE-RI delivers healthy, culturally relevant meals to the doors of patients with diabetes, heart disease and/or renal disease in partnership with Community Servings, a Boston area nonprofit. CEO Joan Kwiatowski or Wellness Manager Melissa Simonian will speak about the Rhode Island pilot program.

One table, one conversation, and a great way for eaters, advocates, or those curious to connect and exchange ideas. Come when you can and bring your lunch or snack. Free and open to all!
