PVD Green Drinks with the Rhode Island Association of Conservation Commissions at Ogie’s Trailer Park

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Rhode Island Association of Conservation Commissions is a coalition of the Conservation Commissions in Rhode Island. Our mission is to work with town councils, town planners and other environmental and land use boards, and organizations in each of the towns where a conservation commission exists. The Association helps municipal conservation commissions with educational and regulatory information and updates on everything from land use policy, recycling, solar farms, erosion control, development and more.

The Association promotes existing regulations with a healthy discourse for how they can be modified under climate change and political change environments.

On July 20, 2017 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, please join us for a very informal presentation on how the Association can offer help with city and town wide issues. Some free food complements a cash bar. This is a good opportunity to network with your fellow conservation commission officers, land trust and other environmental organizations.How do you deal with a solar farm? Come find out as we share thoughts and experiences from all over the US and elsewhere.

SEG 101 Workshop: Raising Funds for Your Business

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

This workshop will cover how to craft your case for funding with a focus on funder interests, grant development, how to ask for money when you have a mission driven organization and the basic principles of finding and stewarding donors, and specifically for nonprofits in the room, we will cover the math of fundraising for a not for profit.

Betsy’s work supporting Rhode Island food entrepreneurs follows 25 years of nonprofit management and fundraising experience in Washington, D.C. After moving to Rhode Island in 2013, Betsy joined the Board of Hope & Main culinary incubator and then served as Interim Executive Director after it opened October 2014. During that time she was an important partner for SEG’s Director of Food Initiatives Isabella Cassell. Betsy served on the Food Accelerator’s Advisory Board and Curriculum Committee and coached businesses in both the 2015 and 2016 cohorts.In February 2016 she was tapped to head The Partnership for Greater Providence, a new nonprofit that executes projects with both economic growth and social impact goals. Betsy is thrilled to join the Social Enterprise Greenhouse team to be able to continue her work supporting Rhode Island’s farmers, fishermen, and food producers while strengthening support for all of the social entrepreneurs that SEG serves.

Jonathan Ter MeerDirector of Development, Crowd Funding,TriLinc Global Investments

Jonathan is responsible for working with innovative social enterprises in the preparation of regulation crowdfunding offerings allowed by the JOBS Act. Prior to joining TriLinc, Jonathan worked as a digital fundraising consultant helping political organizations, nonprofits, and innovative companies leverage their online communities to raise money and create value through coordinated digital media campaigns. He is also an active member of the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA) and outspoken advocate of the crowdfunding industry and its potential to create social impact.

Todd Iarussi is a personal, performance, and leadership development consultant, and has worked with leaders in private wealth management, social entrepreneurship, independent schools, university research, and collegiate athletics. Todd was previously a Director at Mindful Warrior, where he co-led teambuilding and culture development retreats with a former U.S. Olympic leadership and performance coach. His practical approach to professional development is informed by having interviewed approximately 1,000 leaders as an executive recruiter in New York. Todd is also an experienced mindfulness practitioner and has taught meditation to business leaders, athletes, and Rhode Island prisoners. He graduated from Brown with a BA in Biology and was captain of the baseball team.
