  • PVD Green Drinks with Urban Greens Co-op

Join Urban Greens Food Co-op as they introduce their newly hired General Manager, Janiqua Jackson, and kick off their fall investment campaign!

This event will be a great opportunity to meet Janiqua, as well as chat with board members to hear all about the Co-op Market’s progress! After years of hard work, Urban Greens Food Co-op has started construction at 93 Cranston Street on a full-service cooperative market that will help anchor a mixed-use development that includes affordable housing at the nexus of three diverse neighborhoods: Federal Hill, West End, and Upper South Providence. It’s just west of downtown, and easily accessible by highway. And by next summer, you will be able to come and visit – and shop in! – a store that 830 member-owners are helping create.

Urban Greens Founders and members will be on hand to talk about the store and the Investment Campaign. You will also have an opportunity to join the Co-op (which is not required to shop there). And, they will have an exciting special announcement!

Locally Sourced Snacks and Refreshments will be provided!

  • Community Table with Eliza Cohen and Eliza Lawson of Food on the Move

Join us for a Community Table discussion with Eliza Cohen and Eliza Lawson of Food on the Move.

Food on the Move is a mobile fruit and vegetable market that sells fresh, high quality produce in communities across Rhode Island. (Schedule at http://riphi.org/food-on-the-move/).

The initiative removes the major access barriers to fruit and vegetable consumption in Rhode Island, including the high cost of fresh fruits and vegetables, little time to shop due to hectic lifestyles, and limited access to and poor quality of fruits and vegetables in low income neighborhoods.

Food on the Move doubles the value of SNAP benefits spent on fruits and vegetables at our markets; for every $1 you spend on fruits and vegetables at our market, you will get another $1 in a gift card that you can use to buy more fruits and vegetables.

One table, one conversation, and a great way for eaters, advocates, or those curious to connect and exchange ideas. Come when you can and bring your lunch or snack. Free and open to all!
