The Changemaker Fellowship

The Changemaker Fellowship equips and inspires the next generation of leaders in the social enterprise field. The fellowship is a unique statewide effort to integrate students from Rhode Island’s 11 colleges and universities in the effort to increase awareness and resources for student entrepreneurs across the state. The Changemaker Fellows work as interns with SEG Accelerator ventures. The fellowship also includes campus engagement work where students work collaboratively with SEG and faculty/staff on their campus to grow the ecosystem in Rhode Island.

Program Description

Changemaker Fellows are matched with SEG Accelerator participants for a year-long internship. The Accelerator is a 12-week business acumen course that assists high potential social entrepreneurs in refining their business plan. Fellows will undertake meaningful work with these social ventures across different industries and address important social issues including access to food, promoting health and wellness, and education equity. Fellows will gain a sense of what entrepreneurs need to succeed and the many shapes success can take.

Peer-Learning Meetings
Changemaker Fellows will come together for monthly workshops that will engage students with a professional development curriculum, enhancing entrepreneurial skills. Through these meetings, Fellows will form a close-knit cohort and provide collaborative support to one another.

Campus Engagement Work
Fellows will engage in entrepreneurship advocacy work on campus in order to connect student entrepreneurs and students interested in social change to resources and opportunities on their campus and at SEG.

Support Network
Every Fellow will have access to a support network that will include mentors from the SEG community and faculty and staff from the colleges and universities. This support network will help fellows grow and develop a personal skillset to get them where they want to go.

Fellows will receive a stipend of $1500 for the school year.  Students may arrange with their college or university to receive academic credit.

Changemaker Fellows are highly motivated students passionate about creating social change. Fellows should meet the following requirements:
