About the Position

Reports to: CEO

This is an exciting opportunity to lead resource development for a business support organization that creates a more just, equitable and resilient economy through social impact business. This position will identify, secure and manage development/fundraising opportunities and grant funding that will accelerate impact for entrepreneurs and businesses committed to positive societal and economic change.

This position will be responsible for meeting the following goals:

  • Meet SEG’s annual development/fundraising goals
  • Maintain and strengthen existing funding relationships and agreements
  • Secure new sources of funding for both existing and new programs
  • Lead corporate partnership strategy as well as individual donor campaigns
  • Build new strategic relationships and partnerships with funders
  • Strengthen and align SEG’s messaging strategy across development and communications and improve our ability to communicate impact
Specific Responsibilities

Resource Development

  • Research and assess new funding opportunities including foundations, government, corporate, and individual donors
  • Develop process to evaluate new opportunities to ensure that SEG is targeting those that are most mission-aligned
  • Understand and be able to tell SEG’s story in a compelling way to multiple stakeholders
  • Build relationships with new funding partners and media with ability to explore areas of mutual interest 
  • Develop and strengthen strategies and systems for engaging new and existing individual donors and corporate sponsors
  • Develop and write proposals, presentations, and other content as needed for new funding and ongoing opportunities
  • Lead writing on grant proposals and reports
  • Lead the process to track, prepare and submit grant proposals, collaborating with other team members as needed
  • Secure new unrestricted funding, as well as funding for existing programs and new strategic opportunities

    Grant Reporting

    • Manage the development and timely submission of reports to grantors to meet all requirements regarding grant activity 
    • Serve as a point of contact for grantor and for subrecipients to ensure reporting and compliance requirements are met
    • Review assigned contracts and support grant compliance for government awards
    • Identify potential areas of compliance risk and work with team to resolve them
    • Track and maintain data related to funding goals and communicate goals to key internal team members (programs, management, etc.)
    Core Skills and Capacities 
    • Experience: At least 8 years of professional experience with at least 3+ years of demonstrated success in resource development, including government, foundations, corporate and individual donor, and relevant grants and contract experience including federal grant management
    • Knowledge: Ability to understand regulatory compliance in relation to federal funding
    • Execution: Passionate about and excellent aptitude for getting things done. Able to step in proactively and make progress where others are not.
    • Organization and Planning: Plans and organizes in an efficient, productive manner;
    • Problem-solver: Easily assesses complex challenges and takes timely action to resolve;
    • Detail-Orientation: Sweats the small stuff. Does not let important details fall through the cracks;
    • Systems: Strong computer systems skills.
    • Commitment to Addressing Issues of Race & Equity: Demonstrates an active commitment to viewing our work through an equity lens.

    Strongly Preferred, but not required: Fluency in Spanish

    This position is full-time starting as soon as possible.

    Starting Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
