About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity to help build a collaborative and inclusive coalition of business support organizations. Are you a detail-oriented systems thinker with accounting and federal award experience? As Grants Manager, you will ensure that SEG and all of our partners have the knowledge, systems, information, and processes in order to appropriately fulfill all financial and reporting requirements, and effectively support service delivery. You will report to the Senior Manager of Systems and Development, and work closely with the Budget and Finance Analyst and Program Director.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop Processes & Systems

  • Establish internal systems especially for new grants and awards including developing budget and reporting templates, subrecipient agreements, and processes for monitoring and analysis
  • Provide training to SEG staff and partners on federal compliance and implementing new controls and procedures

Subrecipient Support and Monitoring

  • Collaborate and develop strong working relationships with subrecipients and partners and support them in meeting requirements regarding grant activity, accounting, reimbursements, and reporting
  • Perform risk assessment of subrecipients as required for Federal awards
  • Facilitate subrecipient and vendor payments under the grant’s terms and ensure proper and timely closeout of subawards to meet requirements

Oversight & Compliance

  • Review assigned government contracts and serve as the internal expert on grant compliance
  • Oversee and review expense requests and expenditures for awards 
  • Identify potential areas of compliance risk and work with team and subrecipients in the resolution of budgetary problems
  • Support federal audits and other funding source audits and reviews


  • Manage the review and timely submission of ongoing and final progress reports to grantors, management and other sources as needed
  • Report project expenses to leadership and provide budget projections and assemble/summarize financial data for leadership’s decision-making purposes.
Core Skills & Capacities
  • Experience: 3+ years demonstrated success in relevant grants and contract experience including federal grant management, finance, accounting, report writing and experience creating and operating internal systems
  • Knowledge: Ability to understand government accounting principles and regulatory compliance in relation to federal funding
  • Execution: Passionate about and excellent aptitude for getting things done.  Able to step in proactively and make progress where others are not;
  • Organization and Planning: Plans and organizes in an efficient, productive manner;
  • Problem-solver: Easily assesses complex challenges and takes timely action to resolve;
  • Detail-Orientation: Sweats the small stuff. Does not let important details fall through the cracks;
  • Systems: Strong computer systems skills, including proficiency in business and accounting computer systems, and advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.

Strongly preferred, but not required:  Fluency in Spanish.

Starting Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 based on experience.
