The World Bank’s Poverty and Social Impact Analysis Multi-Donor Trust Fund

Poverty and Social Impact Analysis (PSIA) is the analysis of the distributional impact of policy reforms on the well-being or welfare of different stakeholder groups, with a particular focus on the poor and vulnerable. The goal of the World Bank’s work on PSIA is to both make the World Bank’s operations and policy advice more sensitive to poverty and social impacts and to build capacity in partner countries to develop poverty reduction strategies on the basis of sound analytical work.

PSIA has been developed by the World Bank as a multi-disciplinary approach combining social and economic analysis. The initiative has been jointly led by the Social Development Department (SDV) in the Sustainable Development Network (SDN) and the Poverty Reduction Group in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network (PREM).
