Social Enterprise Greenhouse Launching RI’s First Social Impact  Co-working and Educational Space

Providence, RI, (July 10, 2014) — Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG) is launching Rhode Island’s first social enterprise co-working and educational space in Providence’s Knowledge District. More than 20 social enterprises, associations, service providers, and universities have already signed on as founding members, becoming the central community in the Rhode Island social enterprise ecosystem. Together we will transform a vacant, ground level, corner office space at 10 Davol Square into an epicenter of economic development and social impact in the region. The doors are scheduled to open in the late fall, but community investment is needed to immediately build out and outfit the space.

During the past five years, SEG has served more than 150 social enterprises, including organizations like Maternova and Capital Good Fund, which deliver both social and financial impact. These organizations harness market demand to achieve their dual missions. These 150 ventures are responsible for creating more than 750 jobs throughout the state of Rhode Island. SEG serves Rhode Islands social enterprise sector through providing services that support entrepreneurs and ventures from ideation to funding.

“Having a space where the rapidly growing community of ‘do well, do good’ entrepreneurs can come together will accelerate the growth of individual businesses and the sector as a whole,” said Kelly Ramirez, CEO of SEG.

To help fund this space, SEG is hosting a Build Out Benefit on July 17th at the office of our new neighbor – the BrownTri-Lab – at 10 Davol Square from 6:00-9:00 PM. Join Solar Sister, Worldways Social Marketing, Packaging 2.0, Women RYSE, the Capacity Group, Yana, Jamie Oliver at Home, Loomio, the Met School, SEG and many other founding members of this groundbreaking space to raise some money, have some fun, and make an investment in the economic future of Rhode Island.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.buildoutbenefit.eventbrite.com and at the door on July 17th. There will be a live DJ, big kid-sized building block area, maker table, tours of the construction site, and more! Food from Jewelry District neighbors will be served.
