SEG Loan Fund

The SEG Loan Fund offers loans to support the growth of social enterprises based
in Rhode Island. Preference is given to applicants that are graduates of the SEG
Accelerator. Expert advising is available during the application process and throughout the duration of the loan.

Microgrant Fund

Social Enterprise Greenhouse’s Microgrant Fund is designed to help entrepreneurs and small businesses with early investments that can propel ideas to the next level. SEG seeks to support organizations and businesses that contribute to a just, equitable, and resilient economy. We accept applications for up to $5,000 in funding to support any activity that will help your venture achieve its goals, anywhere from entity formation support, certification requirements, technology needs, legal support, or space for community events.

SEG Loan Fund

Criteria

  • Businesses based in and planning to create jobs in Rhode Island
  • Demonstrated existing revenue of $25,000 or more
  • Minimum of 1 year in operation
  • Must be an incorporated enterprise*
  • Must be a social enterprise

Applications are evaluated based on the mission of the borrower, the management team, value proposition, financial projections, operating strengths, and market conditions.

*SEG invites formalized for-profits, nonprofits and cooperatives to apply

Program Details

  • Loans are between $5,000 and $25,000
  • Can be used for operating costs, working capital, new equipment below $5,000, website or app development and marketing campaigns, etc.
  • Individualized loans of up to 3 years
  • Competitive interest rates
  • Free technical assistance from SEG is available to potential borrowers who need help assembling their Loan Application package and throughout the duration of the loan
  • Applications are open year-round

SEG Microgrant Fund

Criteria

Entrepreneurs, organizations and businesses that:

  • Graduated from one of SEG’s Incubator or Accelerator programs from 2020 onward
  • Entrepreneurs, organizations and businesses that:
  • Address a societal challenge directly, or
  • Are incorporating greater societal impact into their efforts.
  • Place a heightened focus on those who have been historically excluded.
  • Operate in the New England region
  • Have an annual operating budget of under $250,000
  • Have not received an award from the SEG Microgrant Fund
  • SEG cannot fund ventures run by current or former staff members

Program Details

  • Grant Size: $1,000 - $5,000
  • Can be used to support any activity that will help your venture achieve its goals, anywhere from entity formation support, certification requirements, technology needs, legal support, or space for community events
  • Reportings Requirements: After receiving a grant, a report is due either when all funds are expended or six months from the date of the grant agreement letter.
