SEG Seeks Social Entrepreneurs for Its Fall 2020 Impact Accelerator Program – Applications Are Due August 1, 2020

Providence, R.I. (July 16, 2020) – Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG) is now accepting applications for its Fall 2020 Impact Accelerator program. Motivated and coachable social entrepreneurs who are in the process of building a “do well, do good” business with a focus on social impact are encouraged to apply. Applications are due by August 1, and the program begins in September. The application is available at www.bit.ly/SEGAccelerator2020. The program will be conducted entirely online using the Zoom virtual platform.

SEG’s Accelerator is the organization’s signature venture development program. It features a 12-week blended learning experience that provides social entrepreneurs with the tools, networks, and resources to further validate their venture, understand their customer, and formalize growth strategies from fundraising to social impact measurement. The purpose of the Accelerator is to stimulate innovation and to help create more successful, sustainable “do well, do good” businesses, leading to healthier and more prosperous communities for all. A total of 188 social ventures have graduated from SEG’s Accelerator programs since 2010.

SEG traditionally holds its Health & Wellness Accelerator in the fall, but this year’s fall program is open to social entrepreneurs from any industry. The Fall 2020 Impact Accelerator offers a customized curriculum, peer learning, and access to a network of experts in addition to the entire SEG Advisor network to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses in Rhode Island and beyond.

“We are offering a second Impact Accelerator this year to increase the number and diversity of ventures we are able to serve,” says Kelly Ramirez, CEO of SEG. “Entrepreneurs from multiple industries are looking for expert business guidance and support as they confront the challenges of operating during a pandemic. We have already recruited a large cohort of health ventures and will ensure they receive the industry-specific resources they need. We also seek to tap entrepreneurial talent in the communities of Central Falls, Pawtucket, and Newport, where we had planned to run in-person Accelerators this fall.”

The Fall 2020 Impact Accelerator is a significant development opportunity for enterprises that engage with a variety of social issues, including:

  • Education and youth development
  • Public health
  • Affordable housing
  • Poverty alleviation
  • Workforce development
  • Racial equity and community empowerment
  • Sustainability and environmental resilience
  • Arts and culture
  • International development
