Social Enterprise Greenhouse Seeks Social Entrepreneurs for Its 2020 Impact Accelerator Program – Applications Are Due November 1, 2019

Providence, R.I. (October 1, 2019) – Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG) is accepting applications for its 2020 Impact Accelerator program. Motivated and coachable social entrepreneurs who have a feasible venture and a desire to build a “do well, do good” business with high social impact are encouraged to apply. Applications are due by November 1, 2019, and the program begins in February 2020. The application is available at www.bit.ly/SEGAccelerator2020.

Social Enterprise Greenhouse’s Accelerator is the organization’s signature venture development program. It features a 12-week blended learning experience that provides social entrepreneurs with the tools, networks, and resources to further validate their venture, understand their customer, and formalize growth strategies from fundraising to social impact measurement. Additional value is provided by one-on-one business coaching, a peer cohort model, and access to SEG’s coworking space at 10 Davol Square, Providence.

About the Impact Accelerator
SEG’s Impact Accelerator program, now in its eleventh year, works with social entrepreneurs from any industry. It offers a customized curriculum, face-to-face instruction, peer learning, and access to a network of experts in addition to the entire SEG Advisor network to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses in Rhode Island and beyond.

The Impact Accelerator is a significant opportunity for enterprises that engage with a variety of social issues, including:

● Education and youth development
● Poverty alleviation
● Workforce development
● Racial equity and community empowerment
● Sustainability and environmental resilience
● Arts and culture
● International development

Eighty-four social ventures have graduated from the SEG Impact Accelerator since its start in 2010, including successful enterprises such as GoPeer, FabNewport, Maternova, Sankofa World Market, TextUp, What Cheer Flower Farm, and Whole Forest.

“One of the best things we’ve learned from Social Enterprise Greenhouse is to never stop learning and to appreciate and take hold of opportunities when they present themselves, such as advisors and mentors,” says Ethan Binder, cofounder of the online tutoring company GoPeer and a graduate of SEG’s 2018 Impact Accelerator. “I’d say the SEG advisor and mentorship network was the most beneficial thing for us.”

SEG’s 2020 Impact Accelerator is delivered in partnership with Brown University and is funded by the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training Real Jobs RI Initiative, Newman’s Own Foundation, and the Island Foundation.

The purpose of SEG’s Accelerator program is to stimulate innovation in Rhode Island and to help create more successful, sustainable “do well, do good” businesses, leading to healthier and more prosperous communities for all.
